Continuous Improvement: Beyond Retros

16 September, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm AEST

Free

We seem to try to foster a mindset of continuously and relentlessly striving for improvement with mainly one practice: retrospectives. For years, retros have been our default – and often our only – continuous improvement tool. Aurelien certainly used to think that retros were the most important ceremony. As a coach, he previously considered them his main tool to drive improvement.

In this talk, Aurelien prompts us to look beyond retros and explore what other tools (Toyota Kata, improvement boards, etc.) and concepts we can explore to foster a continuous improvement mindset. Drawing on his own journey, Aurelien will share experiments he has conducted and is planning to carry out— discussing what worked for him and, more importantly, what hasn’t and where he failed.

Agenda

  • Introductions and Community News ~ 5 mins
  • Aurelien Beraud – Continuous Improvement: Beyond Retros
  • Closing ~ 10 mins

Bio
Aurelien Beraud is an Agile Coach with a strong technical and product background. With an unquenchable curiosity, Aurelien does not shy away from asking way too many questions. He has been a software developer with an extreme focus on giving users what they truly need, and then became an Agile Coach who focuses on helping teams and organisations find ways of working that best fit them.  He believes in data and scientific research over opinions and tries to understand human beings and their weird behaviours by delving into cognitive science and getting a deeper understanding of the brain.
